Our son Maxton was diagnosed with left-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) at his 19 week ultrasound. Maxton was born on 3/3/09 at Vanderbilt University. He fought hard for 18 days but earned his wings on 3/21/09. Maxton was an inspiration to many during his brief time on earth and has forever changed our lives. If your child is diagnosed with CDH, please feel free to contact us. Maxton may no longer live here on earth, but he will live forever in our hearts...

Balloon Release

I just wanted to let everyone know that we continue to appreciate your thoughts. We has received so many kinds words and gifts, as well as hearing of some nice donations made to CDH foundations. We know that Maxton's life was not in vain and I have found so much comfort in that. I can tell that people are praying for peace for me because I definately feel it. I desperately wish that my baby was here with me but understand that God needed him there.

As for the balloon release, it will be next Tuesday, March 31st at 6pm at Centennial Park in Nashville, TN. We plan to celebrate Maxton's life and the lives of other CDH angels (both heavenly and earthly). Regardless of whether you are able to make it to the balloon release or not, please wear turquoise in rememberance of Maxton and all the other CDH babies. CDH affects roughly 1600-1800 families per year, and half of those do not survive. We are certainly not the only ones who are grieving for our child. As always, thank you for checking on us and praying for us.

As you lay your sweet baby boy to rest today I pray for your peace. It would be my honor to wear turquise in rememberence of Maxton and all the other CDH babies.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
God Bless all the CDH babies/families.

Hi Ashley & David,
We will do a mini balloon release here in Cleveland, too in honor of Maxton and the other CDH angels, both earthly and heavenly. (And our own little man yet to be born, Jaime!)
Wishing you peace and comfort today.
We're thinking of you,
Love and prayers,
Sheryl & Tom

Ashley,

I am thinking of you as you put little Maxton to rest today. I know that the day I buried Addison was one of the hardest days of my life. We should get together in the coming days. Once you get a handle on things, give me a call 404-849-1800.

Ashley-

We will be releasing ballons for Max and Addison (and all the other CDH babies) on the 31st. We will do it at 4pm PST, and of course be wearing our CHD awareness shirts :) Thank you for keeping in touch with us, and we continue to pray for you and David.

I wanted to ask for permission to make a "Max Angel" for Kaden's isolet to watch over him and keep him company.

Ashley, I am LaTanya Meriwether's mother. I have had you and your family in my prayers since she told me about your situation. I had my entire Women's Sunday School class pray also. I was so sorry to hear that little Maxton did not make it, but knowing that he is in the hands of such an awesome GOD is some comfort. There are no words that can adequately be said to comfort you at this time. I know because I've been there. Just know that you and your family are loved by more people than you will ever know and that my prayers are with you always.
